This assurance framework has been developed against the National Standards for infection prevention and control in community settings.  This framework builds on the already published contingency planning assessment and assurance programmes. The framework comprises of a guidance, self-assessment tool and quality improvement template. 

This framework aims to assist registered providers to focus on critical aspects of care so that they can be assured of the efficacy of:

• Their infection prevention and control governance and management arrangements,
• their preparedness and contingency plans,
• their staffing arrangements,
• the knowledge and confidence of staff in implementing infection prevention and control measures,
• their audit and review arrangements.
